Hi dudes..Wat is meant by unlocking the phone and what is the benefit of it. ?Please explain me briefly..
Yoyocell
Some carriers lock the SUBSIDY or SIM lock so that only their SIMS will be
operational in phones they sell.. Basic theory is to keep you from getting a
dirt cheap phone, and then going and activating with another carrier, and
they are out the money that they lost "subsidizing" the price of the phone
to entice you in as a customer. Also, keeps you from going to another
country, using PrePaid SIMS and cutting them out of their ROAMING income.
But they wont tell ya that one.
Some carriers, will give you the unlock code after you fulfill X amount of
days (TMOBILE is 90 days)or are at the end of your contract. (ATT wont if
you were dying) You can also pay someone to UNLOCK it, or do it yourself,
techniques vary by phone and manufacturer. Nowdays, its usually cheaper to
pay someone to do a single phone, unless it has an unlock site/calculator
available like most Nokia.

Unlocking means your phone is locked to one particular network. After unlocking it,you can use any network sim on your same phone. If you want to unlock your phone, then visit Prounlocking.com .Here they ask you to provide manufaturer, mobile model, country name and service provider of your mobile phone. Then you can get unlock code to unlock your phone.

Benefit of Unlocking-
* By unlocking your phone, you are able to purchase a much cheaper SIM card in another country.
* With an unlocked phone, you have the ability to use a service provider of your choice, whether it's AT&T, T-Mobile, or a local service provider. This could help you save money or simply use the phone of your choice on a different network.
* A person could turn their single-line phone into a dual-line phone with a special SIM card adapter. Obviously, this has some great benefits because a person could combine their business and personal lines into one phone. You can easily switch between both lines on your phone, which is extremely convenient for busy people.
* Unlocked phones are more valuable than locked phones.
* For many people, simply having the freedom to unlock their phone and take advantage of the benefits is enough to do it. Some people just don't like being tied down to a contract for a cell phone or being tied to one company, so unlocking their cell phone is a great way to be free from unwanted bonds.
