Hello everyone, and welcome to the Sig Designing Competition. This is the first ever SDC on M9, brought to you by Hazard Blue. Special thanks to Krakit who planned this competition and will be moderating it. He will also be a participant by the way.

Before I inform you of the topic, there are a few things you should know. First is that Sig Designing is NOT difficult. It is NOT anything to be scared of. This can easily be proven by the fact that your extremely untalented WPC manager makes his own sigs. You don’t even need to be a master of photoshop to make good sigs, though some knowledge definitely helps. Sigs can be designing even in Paint!

To make the task easier for you, we will keep posting little tutorials all through the duration of the competition. We will also try to answer all queries and provide comprehensive feedback to help all participants perform the best job they can.


And yeah…we’d like your help in making this event a success. All we need is some publicity from your part. We’d appreciate it if all SDC participants use an SDC banner in their forum sig. And maybe you could also post an image on your homesite? Check out my sig and my homesite…something like that would be great!

And now let’s begin the event, shall we? Here are the details for the first SDC:

Topic: HB-WPC Integration
Description: Make a custom sig that shows the integration of HB and WPC and contains links to both forums
Resolution: Restricted to a maximum of 600px x300px
Restrictions: maximum provision for 5 links in the sig. sig cannot be divided into more than 5 parts.
Deadline: Topic will close on November 31st

NOTE: You also have make an accompanying 100px x 100px avatar to match the sig. after all, we don't want the sig user to be left with an ugly avatar, do we?

We all know about the recent HB-WPC integration. that is the reason we are even having this competition in the first place. So let;s honor our roots. imagine yourself as a participant of WPC. If you were to count yourself as an HB member, your sig would contain links to both the WPC and HB forums. A sig like that is what we are looking for.

And here's the good news:
THE WINNING SIG WILL GET AN OPPORTUNITY TO BE CHOSEN AS THE OFFICIAL HB-WPC SIG

When you are done with the sig, you will post the image here along with the CODE of the sig (without hyperlinks).

on the other hand, look at MY sig and avatar....they are so different that they don't make a good pair. that is a bad example of an avatar-sig combo

i am impressed already mohib! just two things i'd like to say:

1. the SDC should be replaced with HB
2. i'd suggest that u make the avatar gray as well to match the sig

Okay, here's what I made... I hope I get it right. Thought I just put Gallery in the middle, so anyone could use it...



I tried to cut the image in three pieces, but then the animation runs at different timings in every piece... Will try to find a solution for that...

wow .. im so amazed with ur work mom .. but i think if u cut it, it will be more difficult. if u can do that than i salute u..

also, try to remove the white background. its better without it.

Allright, I just found a solution for the problem... I don't think I'll be able to get that white lines out of it, tho...





@Sporty: Thanx! The background is disturbing me too, but if I take it out, I can't use any shadows (since it's a gif) and it just looks nicer with them...

Mom About Cutting it! I think You can Blend it to be of the Same Color of the Background that this Sig is Going to be Used for! then You don't have to Remove the Background! Just ick the Color of the Backgroungd to Camouflage it to suit Its Surroundings!

AND PLEASE TELL US HOW DID YOU GET TO MANAGE THE TIMELINE CORRECT AFTER CUTTING THE IMAGES

hey everyone! i am darn hungry at the moment...and i am having dinner 2 hours later than i usually do, so i am gonna make this post a quick one.

before mom called out to me for dinner (finally!) i was working on an example to show all newbies that sigs needn't necessarily be rectangular or boring! get creative.

remember that you have complete freedom when designing a sig. here is what i quickly made in 10 minutes:



yes, overall, it su*ks i know but hey! it is a wonderful example. and let;s not forget that a hungry guy spent only 10 mins on it

You had a very good idea about the background! I wanted to change it, but then I realized, that I didn't save all the images of the animation with layers, so it would be a huge work to change it now. Pitty, but it will have to stay like that...
About the animation: I didn't get the timeline correct, I just cut the image in five different pieces. So the animation on top is one image, the animation on the bottom is one image and there are three images for the buttons. Will try to correct the white lines in the next few days, since there's still a lot of time left...
