There is a better theme maker available that totally changes the look of the desktop. You can move the op logo about or shift the date about the screen. Even choose not to have anything on the display.

It is 1 of them phones that feels nice to hold and looks ok too. Takes windows exe files and browses the web. Not having much luck finding apps as nearly everything is pay4 but still great phone.

Nov 2 2004, 06:38 AM
lotsa trial versions of applications available, but most have to pay for

might have to do some hunts for applications, once i get the phone myself.

Evrae
Nov 5 2004, 04:51 PM
Now your just cheeky. I like my new phone but I would like it much better if it wasnt Orange branded - But there again, its not as heavily plastered as some Vodafone mobiles so not too bad.
adonisdemon
Nov 13 2004, 12:16 PM
i checked out the c500 orange branded in the orange shop, it's not so bad. (branding).
the phone is excellent, the guy at the shop almost made me buy it on the spot, but i wasn't gonna commit to another contract just yet

will probably get it by xmas

It is worth it but if you come across a Littlewoods mail order catalogue, its only £190 on Pay&Go Orange
adonisdemon
Nov 17 2004, 07:05 AM
i'm hoping to get it sim free, for around £275.
i don't have a littlewoods, plus i need it on t-mobile.
*how are the games on it, any good? (i know it's a guy quesion)

saw it in the orange shop yesterday on pay&go for £140. +£10 to get it unlocked (mobilefun.co.uk will do this if you ask nicely) and it's a bargain.

I'm tempted to get the Orange SPV rather than shell out nearly 300 notes for the imate sp3i. Decisions decisions

there really isn't much difference, other than little orange branding. i think the extra money saved is worthwhile.

Thanks - I'll do that, although the missus complained that perhaps with xmas and a new baby on the way a new phone isn't a good use of my money.
I'm working on it though, and will be getting one perhaps after xmas is out of the way
adonisdemon
Nov 30 2004, 07:07 AM
probably cheaper during or after the xmas sles too

i have decided to get myself and xbox

i personally hate it, but i gotta finish this morrowind game, and i can't do it on my pc currently, i need it to do other things whilst i play.

lol @ xbox

I've waited patiently since before the K7 was released to get my new phone. I'm strapped to my seat at work to stop myself from just going out and buying a new one anyway

My girlfriend yesterday expressed a slight interest in my choice of new phone whilst shopping - even brought up the subject herself. I think she's resigned to the fact that I will be getting one, which can only be a good thing.

I just had to blag a new monitor to get the ruttensoft homescreen designer to work on my PC here (cos it needed to be at 1024 size). I now have what looks like a 21" screen on my desk which is nice.

that looks great simon

i''m just wandering about how to upload to gallery after making a them with the ruttensoft.
should we just upload the extension ruttensoft's creator puts out?
i got some themes i made and was thinking of shaing...
any info?
expert?

The Ruttensoft software will package as an HME file if you don't include any plugins on the main screen and don't include the startup/shutdown screens. Otherwise it's a CAB file, which perhaps Expert needs to include as a valid type for upload?
simon211175
Jan 10 2005, 06:33 AM
Okay, I've looked a bit deeper into how to package a .cab file manually, and the following looks like a good tutorial on how and what:
http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=94713Also, the .xml file might cause problems. Ruttensoft has no facility to change the alert screens, so you'll need to do them manually - and if you want to use any other plugins too I guess. I have no knowledge of xml other than what I picked up when researching S65 themes for Siemens phones. The following link seems like a good overview on simple xml coding for smartphone themes:
http://www.angelfire.com/darkside/srn/Home...Design.html#TopAll this research, perhaps one day I'll actually be able to get one of these phones
adonisdemon
Jan 10 2005, 07:46 AM
i'll take a look at them when i get some free time, when i can actually think

heads spinning...
on the upload issue, i think .cab or .hme files could be the right extensions, they are simple to install, both are auto installing.

I am revitalising this topic with my new addition of a Tmobile MDA Compact and after having it only 3 days I love it. Have managed to find lots of FREE apps/games and got hubby to flash it earlier to make it unbranded. Just putting all my stuff back on it.
Oh I knocked this up whilst waiting for it. Been far too busy playing to make any more lol

MDA compact has almost everything you'll need from a mobile and more, so it's no suprise you don't need a normal phone anymore.
