Different countries have different generic names for a mobile phone.

We called it "Cell phone" or just plane "Cell" here in South Africa
We call it kinito 
In Oz we just call it a "mobile", unless it rings when you don't want it to, then it's "that f%$#@&g thing"

The name you gave it in the title; mobile/mobile phone in the UK . However, we get people writing color, saying tomato (in American) etc so i wouldn't be surprised if people also called it a cell, especially in cities

in germany we call it "handy"
In Lithuania we call it - "telefonas", in slang - "telefas" or "mobilnikas" or "mobiliakas" or "ragelis". I think we have very rich language 
In Mexico is called 'celular', 'cel' or just 'telefono'
in the netherlands mobiel (say mobiil)

In Finland "kännykkä"
In Russia peeps call it 'mobilnik' or 'sotoviy' or 'sotyk'

Well, typically here in the UK it's called a mobile phone or some people call it a pain in the @ss
in algeria the phone called : ciluler phone or portable or poket phone .

here in India we have various languages..but in our region we call it........"durbhramandhawnisanch"
that means "distant mobile voice set"

i remember talking to my cousing back in India and i told her i am calling from my cell and she said what ?? and i had to say mobile...which doesn't come to our minds here in US...
