@Manitaan Will surely look forward for the help u r willing to extend for the themers !! We do need lot of help n suggestions to improve...I m a die hard red color fan however now want to work on some other color ...

I myself don't like open topic, because I always sit in front of computer, looks at mass of images. A lot of ideas emerge, too much choices but finally I can't decide which one I will go for. I prefer defined topic, that I have only few choices of images to fit in topic, and then stick at one to reach to destination. Not including the fact that with the chosen image, I have to decide for which mobile series (Nokia or SE of different versions) the future theme will best fit. So I usually open both Nokia Theme Studio and SE Theme Creator softwares to try.

@hungnc...good opinion and same with me too but sometimes better in this way to give other themers especially the beginners to choose the topic that their like and love to do and the same time they cld release and free their mind to study and learn more that what to do or not in theming so cld enhance their skills,btw i'm still respect ur opinion mate

I am happy that you share the same opinion. That is why I didn't take part in Week 219. In addition, with fixed topic, I love to see the different ways participants understand the meaning of topic and translate ideas into themes. And finally, in some cases, "stick to topic" is one criteria for me to decide which theme to vote for, if both of them are of the same quality.
And I totally agree with you too about the positive aspect of free topic for beginners that way.

i also have problems in open topics... selecting the images then bla bla bla bla. but still its fun.

Hi everyone, I'm keen to give the 'thememaking challenge' a try but am not sure which software to use.
I hate to be a pest and am hopefully not asking a question that has been previously answered but..... where will I find a program to create themes for samsung sgh-A411? I would like to create the themes for my personal phone, but if I can't then what program should I use to join the 'Theme Making Challenge'?
Any assistance would be GR8ly appreciated... surrender.gif

which phone are you making themes for? most themers make themes for SE or Nokia phones. SE themes are technically easier and the "lesser of two evils", if i can put it that way

for SE themes, you can use the SE theme creator, which is freely available. Nokia themers use Carbide.

if you are going to start making themes simply for the purpose of this competition, then i would suggest you to start with SE themes. it is an easier task. once u have learned enough tricks, you can consider trying your hand at Nokia themes....

EDIT: oops! i didnt see u mention the phone....
i am not sure about samsung themes so i will leave that question for others

@ DJ Dub, as yet you can't create themes for Samsung phones sorry

Alll that can be done for this device is what I call a theme wall, which is where I place the softkey, and status on a wallpaper bg, this gives the illusion of a standby of a regualr theme, but thats as far as Samsung phones can go in terms of customization ( unless things have changed let me know )

Same here! But alltogether I prefere an open topic than a topic I don't like...

Anyway, I don't think I'll make it this time. My husband can't work for at least another two weeks (could be until six weeks!!!) and since we work in the same bar that means double work for me. Plus making laundry, buying food, cooking... Well, you know what I'm trying to say...

new samsung phones are theme-able. like the INNOV850i. it uses the same themes as all the other nokia s60 3rd edition phones do. and Samsung M8800 Pixon is also here it also works on symbian OS. and uses the same themes as s60 3rd edition nokia FP2-

It looks promising! The softkey should be some pixels higher to fit text.

I recommend replacing the blurry background image with a sharp, high quality one.
(Using low quality pics is one of those basic mistakes that gets you out of competition very soon.)

thanks for that BB, my eyesight must be shocking cos it doesnt look blurry at all to me! LOL!
ill see if i can sharpen it, or find another of the same not blurry!

Hi All!! this is my first attempt at a theme.....I haven't figured out the soft buttons yet, but will endeavour to do so. I need to get the feel for the software and try to get my ideas to work with this software.
Could I please get some opinions? CHEERS..

Looking really good so far, i would perhaps try and make 2 softkeys, instead of one big one! but i know ur working
on the sofykey thing. also imo the background looks a little busy, but jus remember i only a beginner also!
so i dont know how much merit my comments have.

nice start....but somehow i ain't getting any feel of it....
since this is an open topic i think u can get a lot more creative, with the background as well as the softkeys

@daisy... thankyou for your comment... I don't mind if you are a beginner or a profeesional 'Themer', all comments and suggestions are welcome.

In regards to 'Soft Keys', I'm just a bit confused as to hao to get them to show on the creator... I remove the one large one and try to import the smaller ones, but they just wont view on the preview... when creating the 'Soft Keys', do I need to create the grphic with the desired text, for each side such as this... [CAMERA] MENU [PHONEBOOK] type of layout.
I'll be honest here, those buttons have me a little BAFFLED

Hey DJ, ive never used the sony theme creator before but with he nokia, you dont need to do the text its on the phone,
with my softkeys i made one at 120 x 25 px then copied and pasted onto my image then did it again for the other side!

but you may be better off with the advice of someone that uses the se creator!
