would have liked to have got some feedback/comments about my entry. But was working on it up to the very last minute.


...also, it's suppose to be animated. But was having problems with ImageReady.
The original animated standby didn't turn out as planned... take a look

@rjdsouza - great and the best, munitious work done with the most care achievement.
The Softkeys and statusbar are done with really greatest care, as the
highlights and the titles too.
Same thing with the writting Input screens - like a lot that glass "window panel".

@BadBoyThemer - maybe simple theme, but it is "breathing". That immpeccable work
shows and gives us also a great sense of a colour feeling of the author.

@hungnc - well, hungc is the next one, because just cannot turn my eyes of it.
the theme is very agreable at look. Clean, and very friendly.
Nice background and very well done contrast highs vs. bg.

@manitaaan - mmm... well done, my young Padawan. your theme is very nice looking.
Reveals an great marriage of colours and contrasts. Maybe still, a bit too "rich".

@Gault - good looking theme in all. Maybe the animation could be done with better
optimisation, or if not - then should leave it as left over...
Also I would like more to see the other elements, as highlights and titles, similar
to the Desktop title... which is such more finest than tab title...
that nice wallpaper with so fine picture, think deserves some more subtle highs.
Nevertheless imo, your theme deserves to be mentionned in top5.

@others, and the Nokia themes, congratulations on your very nice work, and better
luck in the next challenges... do not give up!

btw, for the 6.th and 7.th I would gladlly nominate Shalu2173 and kashif85, as
very close to the 5.th place.

rjdsouza - wonderful work. i cant take me eyes of the heart - really nice and hard work.
manitaaan - love your barwork, really nice. one reading problem.. the marked text in the input 2 box. the highlighted digit is impossible to see.
zJurina - the fully animated theme is really great. fine barwork and highlights and softkeys no reading issues - overall a powerful theme.
BadBoyThemer - the theme is simple but still it looks great when i look at it. . no reading issues. wonderful theme... EYE CANDY...
hungnc - great theme. really nice. everything is well organized. and i like that.

As far as I can see you didn't do much more than putting a different background in your theme. Sorry, but I got nothing more to say to that...

I like almost everything about your theme. The colors all fit, you got pretty little buttons, highlights and details in it and everything's readable. Just the little detail on the left side of the time should be more left for me and I'm not a big fan of blurred backgrounds. There are lots of ways to change the background to make everything more readable, I personally think that blur is the worst option of all... All in all I think you did a good job!

In my opinion the only thing a bit disturbing about your theme are the highlights. I can't really define what it is, but somehow they don't fit so well. Other than that it's a nice, simple theme with good color combination...

1. @rhtz...nice theme my friend btw ur softkey button-Continue button look not match imho...and i believe if u keep practicing and study the PS tuts always...it will enhance ur skills...believe me.
2. @yourmother...very nice background image-the fractal look very nice but...just me ur curve design-softkey,title small,hlight small etc. need to be more smoothly,keep practicing using pen tool regularly.
3. @branislaw...love ur background image-the colouring is good just need to work more on hlight and ur icons niceee...finally good luck to all

Shalu2173 - A very detailed theme, I see a lot of work was done here, the colors work well with the images too, all up a well deserved first for me

zjurnia - really like the walls in this skin, and lol your bars style is sort of like mine and pats now hahahaha, the colors are spot on, images are bar palcement are all pixel perfect, very nice indeed zj.

manitaaan - great textures, nice and different color scheme, a refreshing change from the norm, maybe you went a bit overboard with the softkey textures lol, but still very deserveing for me in third place.

rjdsouza - certainly not your best work old friend, but no doubt still a very polished skin, my main reson for my vote to you, is for the detials used on the bars etc, thse take time, and look good man, very nicly in harmony with your chosen images

daisy06 - I chose daisy for my fift place vote, cause ican really see the improvment in her understanding of colors in a skin, and how things should be balanced well done girl

This is such a clean theme - need to look very closely to take in the subtle colouring details/technique.
The gradients used are super clean & very consistent throughout. Pink text & the pink surprise in input 1.

Nice work with your chosen image. Should allocate more space for the middle button

Good effort in tmc. But you guys need to work to improve overall readability for themes.
If your background image comprises many tones of a specific colour, then use a high contrast colour for text.
If your background image has many colours, try darkening/lightening the reading area for better readability

White text on the green background is readable. But if the green was slightly darker - it would increase readability.

Looks good - you've made an effort with the bars & titles. But I think a bit more space around the text would make it look a little less crowded.

you're almost there - just need to be a bit careful when placing patterns behind text

Nice choice of image - extracts/complimentrty elements from the image used in some of the background panels would have tied this theme together.

Firstly I have to say that I feel honoured to be a judge in this comp.

Secondly I have to say that I see loads of Nokia themers, a great thing imo but the level of themes of most Nokia themers can be far higher. The best advice i can give to all nokiathemers is that they have a look in this threads:

The most creative and unique theme that I see in this competition. Excellent details, perfectly fitting with the standby. The total concept is just great, especially the depth. I see an excellent colour scheme and perfectly readonable theme. Absolutely my number 1 theme.

zjurina
Although i don't like colour scheme, this is my number 2 theme. When i look at design this is the most powerfull theme this week. Great boosting colours through the theme and technically wicked bars. Love to see details like this in a theme, when they remain functional. The middle part of the softkey is your trademark these days, i personally would like to see some more variation in your next themes. The left and right part from the softkey are stunning, this effect trough a whole theme, will be insane. Compared to these parts, your highlights are flat.

The main thing that i see in all nokia themes is unsharp work, this theme is sharp as what. I love the details and esp the standby that you choosed. You are on the line, when i look at the topic but imo it fits. I like the colour scheme and i like especially the messaging screen. I can see that you themed se themes, i see very nice functional details. Your glassbars are very sharp, very nice. Overall you are the number 1 nokia theme.

Very functional theme and well designed but you know that i expect details from you. Such a great artist with so less details, while you have the skills to impress all themers here. The colour scheme is perfect. It seems that you made this theme quite fast. The theme is wellmade, but certainly not what i expect in a design competition for themes.

Let's start what i don't like to end with the good things. I don't like how you resized some icons and i miss some sharpness. I like the design that i see, although some parts could be sharper. The colour scheme i wellmade and looking functional. I see that you have quite some talent, please look at the work from Timetraveler. I am sure that you can be on a higher level of theming, when you look at his work.

Overall opinion.
Well i have to say that i see loads of themes that are flat, i miss depth. Please work with inner and outer shadows. You can also achieve depth with manipulating the backgrounds. Make them a bit darker than the standby picture for example. I see also loads of themes with unsharp previews or just unsharp pictures and bars. Try to make sharp themes. I miss in most themes also designing with details, imo the most important thing when you theme for a competition. Keep on making tutorials and i am sure that the level of most themers will rise.

BBT, love the image you chose also, love the fact that you didnt feel the need to use colour from image in your highlights, to be honest, always thought that was kinda a must, stunning work again BBT!!!!

I really can't comment all the themes, but wil try to do that for at least half of it... if you all have time to read them, even those of you left without the comment, I hope it could help some of you to improve your theming skills...

BBT - nice and clean... with refreshing pink text here and there... but maybe too simple for you... and me...

mamaflump - well chosen main image, with nice overall colouring and good readability... I would like to see the highlights more defined, those borders look kind of blurred right now...

Shalu - I really like the colouring of your theme, and the animation as well... maybe it looks busy overall, but it’s still readable... one thing tho, those wavy details would ‘ve added some balance to the theme, if they are the same throughout the theme, preferably smaller, like on the softkeys... nevertheless, the best nokia theme in this competition IMHO...

mohammed - I think this is one of your best designs... good colouring, nice details and animation... you just have to pay more attention to everything, like how do you cropp images etc... but we already spoke about that...

hungc - pity I can’t see your theme on the phone, but what I see from the preview is that it has great balance, nice colouring and good readabilty...

zjurina - as I already said in your thread this is very detailed and striking work... still, IMHO white text is not the best solution for the overall colour scheme of the theme, and the text in the navigation screen is not completely readable in the last 2 lines...

mani - one of my favourite themes in this competition, love the overall colouring, details and, above all, respect the fact that is all made by you... looks nice on the phone as well...

your_mother - nicely done, I especially like the main image and the contrast beetwen 2 main colours which you have used throughout the theme... readability could’ve been a better tho, if the dark blue text was a bit darker , which also goes for the navigation background, because that would improved the readability of that light blue navigation text...

Gault - you did pretty well with this SE theme... the main objection would be the green navigation text, I believe some very bright shade of green, or grey or even white would add more balance to the theme...

daisy - I can see anything wrong with this theme, it has good colouring and readability... it might be just that it misses some details...

Azyrash - nice colouring and barwork... too much diamonds for my taste tho... and the navigation bacground needs dark layer so the text could be readable...

Rod - I love this theme, especially details, bars and colouring... the theme looks superb on the phone as well... except one thing... I would like to see the navigation text a bit brighter, and generally speaking, to see a tiny bit of red in those gray text colours... IMHO, they are more siutable for this lovely theme...

OK, both judges have voted already... and and I'm pleased to say, we agreed about the winner, as far as judges are concerned... also, 4 same themes are included in our votes, meaning 6 themes overall got our votes...

Luckily today I have free afternoon to comment and vote. It took me nearly 3 hours due to my difficulty to express my thinking in English:

NVDVS1: Nice purple icons match with lovely purple color scheme. it would be perfect if you made background for softkeys, something like your highlight.

Migoy_ghost: It is very basic theme, except small highlight of different level, that might be borrowed from other theme???

BBT: I understand your nice idea is to make a contrast betwwen colorful background with monochromatic pop out and highlight. But at the first sight, some peoples include me might feel that it was unfinished.

mamaflump: The overall theme looks good, the only thing I don't like is the shadow around the bars.

Shalu2173: A splendid red theme with great animation. But in this case, a more plain and opaque bar will make the theme more balanced and easefull. One unnotice error is the dark yellow number in dial screen which didn't match with the rest.

sam1374: How to say, I prefer your Nokia S6 theme to your SE theme. The submitted theme is very nice but to tell the truth, it is hard to compete with other great SE themer here. A unfamilliar Nokia theme may bring the difference.

cute_heart: A glossy B&W theme, but it is a bit plain for my taste.

boxieblue: A nice clean and effective blue theme with great animation. If I were you, I will use some more black color in bars or tab or ring volume...

mohammed_intekhap: Great choice of background and overall color scheme. A less gradient in double tittle or separate it into 2 single bars is better.

longhairsteff: your jpg preview is too blur, but anyway it is a bit plain for my taste.

zjurina: just one word: Great! But why don't you repeat grey text in black title like in the middle softkey or change middle sofkey text to orrage like in current title text?

manitaaan: I always love your detailed bar frame, not only in this entry, but also in your previous themes.

rhtz: nice background and overall color, but the bar and title are inconsistent.

your_mother: the overall theme looks very nice, but stroke pixels should be reduced and text color could be chosen more smartly.

Branislaw: Also nice background, but you should spend some more time playing with bar and softkey.

Kashif85: Very nice theme with well matched icon. But highlight bar is a bit short. And you can choose other effects for manipulating backround instead of blurring it. Like DrMegabyte, one of our greatest M9 themer said, I feel there is problem with my eyesight when looking at it. And don't resize your 240x320 screen preview next time.

ajna: contrary to kashif's, your unmanipulated background causes unreadability in many screens.

gault: a bit more detailed bar and title like your softkey will make the theme great.

angelnaina: In nokia theme, highlight is unproportional stretched to fit text in some cases, so don't use thick stroke or horizontal border for your highlights.

daisy06: A simple but very nice nokia theme with appropriate gradient bar, proving that you have some experiences in using NOKIA

azyrash: great choice of image and glossy barwork. But you are a bit greedy to repeat the diamond of different color in many places that causes conflict with texts.

rjdsouza: A late Valentine's theme. The detailed bars, well manipulated background and nice color scheme make the theme looks great!
