I'm trying to transfer files from my PC to my w580i phone but everytime I connect my phone to the PC via the USB cord I can't find the phone memory. I can see the removable drive but it doesn't have the phone memory folder. When I click on it it just tells me to insert a disk. I don't have a memory stick in my phone but I should still be able to see the phone memory items right?

Try connecting your phone via USB by selecting Phone Mode instead of file transfer. You can transfer file using Sony Ericsson File manager. notworthy.gif

Isn't it much safer (or better) to put the phone into file transfer mode instead of the phone mode.

Try to transfer files (or just connecting your phone to view the files) when you've just powered up your pc instead of doing the transfer after using your pc for some time. I've had the same experience with my w810.

I just bought a w580i and I'm having the same problem as you merlin. Sometimes it will open the phone memory and show all the files and sometimes it will show nothing.

Like castleboyz said, use Phone Mode instead of File Transfer.

It seemed to work fine again after I rebooted my PC.

I have the same problem as merlin--whenever I connect my phone to my pc, I can't see the phone memory folder. I tried selecting Phone Mode instead of File Transfer, but it still doesn't work.

Definitely strange. I don't have such problems, and although it does not matter for me, try installing software you were given with the mobile ( If you haven't), and/or check your USB connection, maybe it is not working, or more possibly that the connector on your phone is a bit weaker, from regular using, so you have to move it up-down so it gets the connection....

If not than I don't know surrender.gif
