I recently activated GPRS on my SonyEricsson Z710i handset. In some area I get full EDGE coverage. In my residential area there is no EDGE coverage......

It's weird problem may be. I gues they dont have good freqncy on all tower's. When i walk about 500 meters away from my building, I again see "E" logo on my handset. I locked complained 3 days ago. But still they havent solved it.

They given 72 hours time 2 days ago. If EDGE is not up by Monday, I'll throw there SIM and will go for Vodafone or other ISP.

It may take some more time than 72 hours as told you by some officials. But its worth waiting for. I am using Airtel MO - MobileOffice (unlimited Rs.15/day) in my Edge phone (Motorola A1200 Ming, Edge enabled by myself) since many months and used all over Mumbai and even in out of mumbai. and some parts of Karnataka. Thier MO works outstanding in every part of country. May be in some outstation areas the Edge does not enable and only basic GPRS is available. I give 10/10 to Airtel.

Now vodaphone. I have Hutch prepaid too in Mumbai city the service is good, but its pathetic when I go outstation. They do not exist outstation and in many states. Thier tieup with other providers is only for voice call roaming and do not offer GPRS with other providers.

I hope this info is enough for you to stay with Airtel. And yes, you did not mentioned your Area. Before posting something negative about any compnay, please mention your Area so people can think over it. Its not AIRTEL's fault if you stay somewhere in remote corner or outside the Major city coverage.

PS: This is my first visit and post in this forum at all.

I live in Pune city. I live 3 km away from Swargate where AirTel has it's datacenter and main technical building for Pume region. To be very correct I live @ Pune-Satara road. It's not outside city.

The problem is AirTel not maximizing radio frequency.

My GPRS is now activated. I called them 5 times in 72 hours. My request wasn't forwarded. But still EDGE is not available in my area. It's clearly problem of radio frequency. They have it poor in my area for sure.

I everyday work on Cisco products and I have worked on wireless devices earlier. AirTel now a days sucks. There effort is to make more customers at other end, network issues are rising a lot. You never know if some1 is calling but AirTel throwing message to them you are out of coverage area. These days AirTel's network is too busy and not good in day time.

Every celluler company facing same problem from technical. From marketing prospective they are giving boost but how about setting more tower's ? They'll loose there market soon. to AirTel

I guess many people had the similar problem with Airtel. I'm stuck with O2 tarrif right now and was preety suprised with technical help that they give. You can find usefull info about O2 on http://simtariff.com/. There're also different providers so it's easy to compare them

Poor service in here also

airtel network has the less speed in our area...it has only 9kbps(maximum)..but hav full coverage...but in reliance its 45kbps(maximum)...Reliance rocks,.....

in my place, airtel gives good internet speed.better than aircel,reliance,bsnl.idea.etc.

i do not know this service.
