I'm sure augustborn99 you will come up with better (if there's anything better from what you do now) themes, now that you are enlightened with all the other functions of photoshop. Good Luck and have fun with it! cheers.gif
omdot
Since there's an awful lot of functions in Photoshop that people mostly don't know about, I felt there should be a thread where everybody can share her/his ( devil2.gif ) Photoshop secrets and people can ask questions on how to do stuff.

So, here we go. - any questions? wink.gif

found it, it was on the "info" window. i will be using this to make my cuts

I have found each image manipulating program offers something slightly different, if you can get a few then get them. thumbsup.gif
Adobe I dont like personally but I do mostly use ACD See for my theme making and occaisionally Paintshop when I want to use the Scratch remover to get rid of text and scratches.
Only been using them for a couple of weeks but if there is anything I can help with, I will thumbsup.gif
vinnieza
hoe do you soften images? opposite to sharpen
augustborn99
i use blur filter, blur tool (waterdrop)
Evrae
I use blur or I plasticise the image slightly. Have a play with all the effects, I try nearly every one until I find 1 that suits. Thats why I use more than 1 image program
vinnieza
cheers august, i was thinking that just wondered if there was tool like it (called soften) though smile.gif
omdot
Filters -> Blur -> Gaussian Blur. thumbsup.gif

om.
vinnieza
Cheers omdot thumbsup.gif

i've been playing around with the blurs (for the past few hours) and hue colours.
augustborn99
heres one:

i use the marquee tool a lot.
-i cut a small square out an image.....
-i paste the small square unto a new image...

*is there a way that i can make the small square dynamic within the new image?make it taller, wider? i do not want to use the "image size" option because you cannot see the changes until you hit "ok"
omdot
Press CMD + T (Transform) wink.gif

om.
Patrick
omdot, you're pretty damn good! you shall be our photoshop guru!
augustborn99
godsend..... you guys are godsend. at this rate, i wont have anything to do with the*cough* *corel* *cough* photoeditor :D

*is there an extra pack of filters that i can add to my eyecandy?
omdot
@expert21: Nope, no guru. notworthy.gif
It's just that I had to work a lot with photoshop... doin' this for 8 yrs. wink.gif

om.
omdot
@augustborn: Nope. None that I knew of.
But there's loads of more filters out there. Just try and search google.
(There's a lot of crap out there, too wink.gif )

Just spent 3 -4 hours trying to come up with my first theme using Photoshop Elements, many of the tools from standard photoshop are missing. Question is what version should I buy and how much?
thumbsup.gif
Patrick
@omdot: wow, you beat me..I've only got half of it..4 years smile.gif
vinnieza

[i better hype down a bit]
omdot

Just finished first theme with Son of Tenax and have the following question.
Which of the Theme Creator Pro 3G progs do I need to download blink.gif
augustborn99
TCP 3G v. 1.248 is the latest one out there. that version has a bug, you need to download the patch along with it thumbsup.gif
tenax
thumbsup.gif Perfect, what about the add ins for photoshop etc?
augustborn99
if you have the full version PS7 it should come with the eyecandy pack of filters. im looking to add some more, if i findem, i will postem.
Vlammetje
There is a new version of Theme Creator as well, seems the bugs are fixed (as far as I can see anyway)
maampia
I still use the 3.00.0187 version, is the latest version better? If it is, where can I get it? Thanx
Vlammetje
TCP you mean? Yes I think it's better... it supports more models and it allowsyou to include a rington in the theme, which I think is a very nice feature.

maampia
Oh, that's great! Think I have to try using that, thanks so much Vlammetje. smile.gif
vinnieza
how do you get rid of the box with "01" and a envolope icon, circled?

cheers
Vlammetje
? what is it? It hardly ever appears on mine anyway, but what does it do?
vinnieza
i think it has got something to do with the slice tool?
Vlammetje
i am such a photoshop n00b! i am clueless
Spawn
its the indication of slice 1 - you get it when slice view is activated under view, show.

you can slice the image into parts of specific size using the slicetool, then go to save for web, and now it will save a .html page and the 3 slices of the image.
vinnieza
yey, cheers spawn it worked smile.gif went to slice view show and clicked slice smile.gif
tybalt
Thanks Spawn! Never knew that one, but will come in handy when making next website! Cheers!
Patrick
@tybalt: mobile9 is actually designed using the slice tool everywhere smile.gif
tybalt
I've noticed, just always thought it was done using Fireworks. never knew Photoshop was so helpful! smile.gif

Could we have a section for newbies where say 5 thememakers chosen by expert21 convert the same image into either a theme or a wallpaper. The best image is then used for a frame by frame tutorial for all us beginers.
Evrae
Hey, getting some new software when it comes. Anyone had a play with Serif stuff? Had a taster and I like it. Ive ordered Serif Draw Plus 7

Got a bit confused with screen sizes for the P800, what size screens do I use for : -
a. flip open and b. flip closed. I have used 208px wide x 320px high, with flip open viewed in widescreen it is perfect, with flip closed it is awful. oops.gif
vinnieza
how do you make the marquee tool (the rectangle with dotted lines) round (a circle)? (so you can select a circle out of a picture)?

cheers (hope you understand)

forget that just found out, if anyone else wants to know, hold down the mouse on it and go across and select the option thumbsup.gif
scubyd00
