I'm sure augustborn99 you will come up with better (if there's anything better from what you do now) themes, now that you are enlightened with all the other functions of photoshop. Good Luck and have fun with it!

Since there's an awful lot of functions in Photoshop that people mostly don't know about, I felt there should be a thread where everybody can share her/his (

) Photoshop secrets and people can ask questions on how to do stuff.
So, here we go. - any questions?

1. with the marquee tool, is there any way i can view its current location (in pixels) on the object?
2. magic wand tool is often unreliable in outlining an object. is there a tool that i can freehand an outline to cut out an object?

*btw, thnx for the tutorials om!

I have found each image manipulating program offers something slightly different, if you can get a few then get them.
Adobe I dont like personally but I do mostly use ACD See for my theme making and occaisionally Paintshop when I want to use the Scratch remover to get rid of text and scratches.
Only been using them for a couple of weeks but if there is anything I can help with, I will

Nov 22 2003, 08:47 AM
hoe do you soften images? opposite to sharpen
augustborn99
Nov 22 2003, 08:54 AM
i use blur filter, blur tool (waterdrop)
Evrae
Nov 22 2003, 09:03 AM
I use blur or I plasticise the image slightly. Have a play with all the effects, I try nearly every one until I find 1 that suits. Thats why I use more than 1 image program
vinnieza
Nov 22 2003, 09:08 AM
cheers august, i was thinking that just wondered if there was tool like it (called soften) though
omdot
Nov 22 2003, 09:21 AM
Filters -> Blur -> Gaussian Blur.

Cheers omdot

i've been playing around with the blurs (for the past few hours) and hue colours.

heres one:
i use the marquee tool a lot.
-i cut a small square out an image.....
-i paste the small square unto a new image...
*is there a way that i can make the small square dynamic within the new image?make it taller, wider? i do not want to use the "image size" option because you cannot see the changes until you hit "ok"

Nov 23 2003, 06:31 AM

Nov 23 2003, 09:45 PM
I still use the 3.00.0187 version, is the latest version better? If it is, where can I get it? Thanx
Vlammetje
Nov 24 2003, 12:53 AM
TCP you mean? Yes I think it's better... it supports more models and it allowsyou to include a rington in the theme, which I think is a very nice feature.

its the indication of slice 1 - you get it when slice view is activated under view, show.
you can slice the image into parts of specific size using the slicetool, then go to save for web, and now it will save a .html page and the 3 slices of the image.
vinnieza
Nov 24 2003, 12:24 PM
yey, cheers spawn it worked

went to slice view show and clicked slice

Could we have a section for newbies where say 5 thememakers chosen by expert21 convert the same image into either a theme or a wallpaper. The best image is then used for a frame by frame tutorial for all us beginers.

Got a bit confused with screen sizes for the P800, what size screens do I use for : -
a. flip open and b. flip closed. I have used 208px wide x 320px high, with flip open viewed in widescreen it is perfect, with flip closed it is awful.

how do you make the marquee tool (the rectangle with dotted lines) round (a circle)? (so you can select a circle out of a picture)?
cheers (hope you understand)
forget that just found out, if anyone else wants to know, hold down the mouse on it and go across and select the option
