Below are some of the tips to prolong talk time, squeezing extra juice from your mobile phone's battery. weightlift.gif

1. Lower the screen brightness
Reduce the brightness by 50% can save you a lot talk time than you could have imagine. Best of all, most of the time you wouldn't notice the on screen difference at all.

2. Lower backlight duration
After all, you don't usually need the backlight to stay more than 10 seconds on idle. Starting with the lowest possible and then move it up if you need to.

3. Disable unnecessary sounds
Turn off unnecessary keypad, gaming sound.

4. Turn off Bluetooth
Remember to turn the bluetooth or Wi-Fi off when you are not using it. Bluetooth consumes energy even if no data is transferred with another device.

5. Turn off your 3G network
Only turn it on when necessary is a good practice.

6. Skip the games, mp3 songs, web browsing and photos
You already know this. You have no choice but to refrain from gaming when the battery is running out, even if they are addictive.

7. Listen to mp3 at the lowest volume possible
It is best to avoid playing any mp3 if your battery is low, but if you absolutely need some songs, turning down the volume could help to preserve some battery.

You have forgot one thing , lady.

THIS IS IMPORTANT : TURN OFF YOUR 3G NETWORK!

When i first bought my Nokia N73 , the battery lasted for about 5-6 days. With normal telephone use.

After i turned off my 3G network the telephone lasted for
6-8 days. And it still does.

-------------------------------------------------

If you turn off 3G network you won't be able to "video-call" or receive "video-calls" , because your phone doesn't search after 3G networking.

PS: Of course , 3G (video calls) is future , but not yet happy.gif

Samsung have got the reputation for poorer battery life yes. However, i don't own one but know people that do and they seem happy with their D900s so i guess they're managing.

Wouldn't say one brand was much better, i expect it depends phone by phone (which have the most efficent OS, what features they have, type of battery etc). It's hard comparing as different people use their phones different amounts and the amount phone usage and standby use the battery can differ e.g. a phone could have a really good standby but phone usage poor (i would have said as it maybe optimised for standby to be better but the applications not as optimised, wouldn't really know if it's fact)).

However, all the Sony Ericsson's i've had have had brilliant battery life.

Something to look into when you buy the phone, battery life is issued in the specs although seem over exaggerated to me tbh.

The problem with turning 3G off is you won;t get blistering internet on your phone.

In my opinion, battery life found on new phone's box's can definitely NOT be trusted.some of my friends also seems to like their samsung phones as well, despite them complaining(to me) that it's bat life sucks dry.gif .i own a K800i for 5 mths and it's bat last for about 3+ days.however my dad has a nokia6233 and some of my friends have the n series and their phones generally last for about a day or two longer than mine

Actually i would disagree to the specs about a phones battery life being false.. The companies take the phone and fully charge it, then they take the sim card out and run the phone until it will turn itself off..

I know this for a fact because a friend of mine had a SEW800i and did this test with it. It did last roughly a week, just sitting there on.

But i would say a good phone battery is something that will last 3-4 days with normal usage. From my point of view that has become the average for many phones nowadays..

I've also heard a rumor that not charging your phone until it is fully dead makes the battery work more efficently and effectively. Does anyone else know the same story?

Sony Ericsson's in general have decent battery life.
K750 lasted 3 days with constant use.
N95 dies in a day without much use.

how would i turn off my 3g network on my se k608i?
Cektop
I'm not sure how you do it on a sony-e

But its in your network options

You could also say not to play mp3 files on your phone at the loudest volume. If you do it repeatedly it can make your battery power go down quickly.

Welcome to grouphug.gif

Yes, listening to radio or mp3 drain the battery fast. Thanks for the tip, added to the 1st post. thumbsup.gif

Thanks, I was going to introduce myself, but in some forums it may be considered spamming.
ArthurWill
You can do that in What do we know about you thread. thumbsup.gif
Motomorphis
Although it may seem obvious you can do the same with videos.

Put your phone on silent.

Turn you phone off when you dont need it on.
