Vodafone Group has confirmed it is planning to launch 3G across the UK in the summer 0f 2004.
Currently, an extensive design-proving trial is underway in Ireland.

Chief executive of Vodafone Group PLC, Arun Sarin has said the group was preparing to launch third generation (3G) mobile phones in the middle of next year.
Further to the current design-proving trial in Ireland, the company said it would have "friendly user trials" as early as December 2003. 3G services would be available on a limited basis in selected areas in April 2004, with mainstream handsets and packages coming nationwide in the middle of 2004.
Breaking News quoted Sarin : "Our major push is planned from mid next year when we expect a wide range of devices to be available in large volumes". Most mobile phone operators have delayed their 3G launch dates by at least a year.
