hello to all

I managed to work my first theme on Carbide.ui S60 Theme Edition 3.1 for s60v3

I encounterd a problem when changing the signal & batt indicators, I used a 24x58 png & they worked on the PC as the following screenshot shows, but when I installed it on my phone it didn't change as the screenshots on M9 shows.

That's not a bad effort, stripes might make your eyes funny tho! haha.gif

Not sure why the battery and signal icons didn't come up, personally haven't had that much experience with Carbide Ui.

make sure you sinned all 6 sets of battery and signal graphics , as there is three sets of two wink.gif , and for best results use illustrator to edit the files in SVG format :D

if your still stuck just ask and i'll help you more notworthy.gif

Yes the signal bar is under a SVG for mat but its is an XML thingy.

I use SVG Factory to convert it in to an XML format.

Try looking it up: "SVG Factory"

Now juz create a thingy with the bar signal specification and than safe it under BMP format and than copy and paste it into the SVG Factory.

The format it comes out doesnt matter. Than copy and paste it to ur Carbide Ui.

and thats it.

Try it...

for the solid panes.

Juz double click on the pane you wanna change and than add another layer to it. than uncheck layer 1 follow by deleting it... close the window to save the change.

There you have ur transparent solid pane.

Enjoy...

BadBoyThemer, thanks 4 the follow up

miaw7277,
thanks 4 ur useful comments & hints, they were very helpful & did the job, but one thing that I didn't know how to do; after I got the signal & batt indicators in the theme, I wasn't able to give them a transparent background as u can see in the screenshot below
user posted image

so my question is; how to give some items a transparent background when another layer can't be added as u mentioned in ur previous post?

another thing that I couldn't find although I changed all the text colors that I could find on Carbide was the font color in the pic below

thank u guys 4 the help in advance

this is easy too , simply remember that Black acts as a Mask ( meaning it makes it transparent ) , so basically the darker you make the mask layer , the more transparent it becomes , which means the opposite happens with the color white , the whiter you make the masking layer , the more visible it will be become wink.gif

eg : To make a signal bar like yours do the following

1 - open it to edit the siginal bar section

2 - make two layers , One will act as the main color ( the one we see ) and the other the bg becomes the masked layer the one we can't see , and you make this Black wink.gif

OR another way to do it , is to open the signal bar to edit as above , but this time
convert to BMP image , and then save as .....

now go into the carbide studio where you'll see this image now has a mask layer , select this to edit it , and again make it black etc ..

...........................................................................................................................

To answer the other question about the font color , this particular section is found in the Colors section of carbide , go there , and then look for unselected list text wink.gif

OR and even easier way to do this , is to simply click on one of the Screenshot images found in your right menu.

then simply click on the desired area of the screenshot ( in your case the text you want to change color of )

Now the studio will opne this area to be edited , you can edit color one of two ways either with using carbide color tools , OR edit in vector application like Illustrator cs.

ok hoe that helps man.

I managed to get the signal & batt indicators masked as in the following screenshot, but I feel that there is something wrong with them & I can't figure it out wallbash.gif help plz
I tried to do as u said BadBoy, created two layers, the original indicator was in one layer and another one was a black one, but when I took it to Carbide the whole thing became transparent. Then I added a mask to the original signal & batt indicators which was the inverse of the batt indicator, and the final result appear below

as for the colors 4 the unselected items, I found them & changed the colors to suitable ones

your welcome mate , i was happy to help.

as for the masking , simply experiment with it , until it works thats how i do it wink.gif
zjanahi
well yeah I guess so & will try to find an easy way to get the perfect mask,
but I'm wondering if illustrator got a tool to do that, 'cause I use photoshop all the time & it doesn't seem that I master this skill

thanks again BadBoyThemer
