look into flashing it to a generic firmware to remove the wap button.

Not sure about removing the shortcut but on the w850i you can set a password so wap wont connect until the password has been entered.
Goto Settings - Connectivity - Data Communication - Data Account - Select your WAP account - Setup a username and password then turn Login Request on.
