there is probably an infinate number of ways to make the softkeys - it all depends on how you want your theme to look.

I make mine in Photoshop, using various techniques, sometimes using a variety of filters and sometimes using several layers to acheive the effect I'm after.

Your best bet would be to experiment, or failing that, check out the members' theme threads, find a style you like and then ask the member how he/she created it.

Experimentation is the key.

agree with simon, first you need to learn about photoshop, and then just let ur mind explore, there hundreds of ways to make em.
so there isn't one definite answer.

everyone has their own individual ways. it's what suites you best.

Also i recommend looking through and completing some of the tutorials here: http://www.good-tutorials.com, this is a site adonis gave us a while back and i have learnt a great deal from it and also produced some nice wallpapers smile.gif. I learnt the use of the lasso tools from that site smile.gif and in image ready how to use the Tweens feature smile.gif

On the "good-tutorials.com" site, use their SEARCH button,..and write eg :
GLASS or MAC (just simple words)

Then you will get some pretty good tutorials on how to make buttons in the well known MAC/Glass transparent styles wink.gif
(usually in the shape of pills and ovals)

Another one :
look in Patterns and textures for "TV-lines" (also very much used by us, hehe, and also for wallpapers for pc).
These lines create the TV-screen look wink.gif
