goto the settings option and then press right on the joystick this should be the sounds and alerts tab. go down to ringtone and select the file you want.

i tried a wav file but with no luck. although it does say that it supports it.

i had a wav file working on my phone, but for some reason it couldn't be used for a ringtone.

encode all wav to mp3 and use as ringtones.
benefits:
smaller file size,
can be used for rigtones.
