In response to recent report regarding "offended items" being added to the featured section, we have introduce some changes to the criteria of getting your items featured.

Now, items will be featured based upon both the number of favourites and ratings.

Once an item have reached the criteria, it will be reviewed by admins before being added to the featured item section.

We hope that M9 can continue to provide quality downloads made available by all of you. Thanks for the support all this while.

Is it good to based featured status on raiting? I remember what Pat once wrote. There are always someone who will give "1" to the real good theme and I should add, and those who will give "5" to craps. I don't want to say that my last theme Sunrise is perfect, fantastic, but I think that it's not so bad qualitiy to get "1" on the first day . And I'm certanly not the only one who gets "1" for his/her themes.
There's another problem with raiting. Only 39 themes of my 186 are rated, other themes has lost their rate (I also lost some favs, too), even some of them has more than 10000 downloads.
about favs... Most of people are lazy, once they download their theme, they rarely click on favs (except us who know the real quality of the theme), and there are
lot of people who will click on favs only because they see good wallpaper even theme is almost crap (unusable, made in one hour).

I can see your point Sedma, but we can't do anything if someone wants to vote 1 for your upload even if it is a great theme.


even if someone did download your theme, it may be for reasons to evaluate it, so they may not prefer it as a favourite.


not everyone will appreciate a theme and the harwork put into it. if there is a sexy babe and they like it they will ad as a favourite. It's just life and we have to face it.

You're right adonis, I agree with you. The only reason why I put a comment was that I think that featured status has to be a prize for good quality not for someone's personal taste. I saw many fab themes here, real quality, but I would never put such theme on mob because there is a car or babe on standby. But I would vote for that theme to be featured. And I think that featured status should be exactly that, rate of qualitiy (I hope I use correct word ) imo.

We understand your concern. Which is why this time we employ human review before featuring. Rating of 4 and at least 5 favourites is the base to alert us to review a file to be featured.

Yes, thats part of the reason why we take the average votes instead of just one vote.



Those themes haven't lost their ratings. Once another person voted them again, the ratings will be re-calculate. You will still get back the number of votes.

I agree with Sedma about the ratings criteria... just of curiosity, I've checked k750 most favourited themes of all times... only 4 out of 15 on the first page, have ratings above 4.00... and most of them are quality themes IMO... (btw, my most favourited theme (22) didn't reach the criteria - 3,82 in 72 votes...)

As for the rating "1"... I'm proud to say, I have at least one of those for almost every theme of mine... I can't check that fact now, but I remember it from the old days...


True, but it's sad to see some people work so hard and gain so less... it's a kind of disappointment... would you agree?!



I agree completely with Sedma... plus, so many masterpieces were not featured at all in the past... and will surely not be in the future... sadly...

I can see both sides here but i also appreciate that its difficult for admins to make any kind of fair decision here which would please everyone. My only suggestion would be all those theme makers out there who feel there not getting the diserved ratings for there hard work and feel they are missing out on them being featured should enter them in the theme competitions and wether they win or not they get featured for entering. One way of getting featured and lots of juicy competitions

Hope you didn't get me wrong... I can live out with any criteria, old or new, the most important thing is that I'm pleased and happy with my work, and that I see that few people like it, too... I was just speaking in general, I could be wrong, of course, but I really don't think ratings are the best criteria for featured themes...
