Just a quick question reference launch of new face of M9 in december or when ever it is - will the site have the same logo ?
I only ask because i wanted to dabble at a theme but didnt want to use existing logo if your changing it.

As AW said, Nothing is final, so can't say sorry. As far as i can remember site redesigns of mobile9 in the past have all had a logo change to suit the new style. So i would say that it is possible it can change. The probabilities i cannot say as i do not know.

We certainly need something, lately the surge in screenshots showing in wrong categories is crazy, i know theres a lot to moderate & it should boil down to members common sense but theres nothing worse than say, ( for example )... selecting automobiles & seeing someone has uploaded a personal picture of themselves or going to the brand section & seeing babies & so on ( nowt wrong with babies i know, but dont they belong in the "People" category )

The one thing i see as potentially spoiling a visitors viewing & navigation experience while on site is wrongly categorised themes / items.

Is it a java game or symbian 3rd edition software? What size is it for e.g. 240*320 or 128*160? Is it freeware or is someone selling it? The first 2 questions decide the category. The second decides if it is allowed to be uploaded or not

No. We will have a new logo with the introduction of new design in late Dec. So...your theme might have to be put on hold for a little while.


As much as I love some of the homesites (with nice looking background, bars, and most important of all - functional), I'm sorry to tell you that all those will disappear in the new design. Like Vince mentioned, it's an exploitation and for security reason I was told they cannot be maintained in the new design. However, M9ers clearly showed us what they want to do with their homesite. Homesite customization will be available a bit later after the launch of new design.

New Mobile9 design launch in late december, talk of improving forum, a new way of homesite customisation to follow - all these things & more, to look forward too, i hope it all goes well & is a great success

I am so gonna miss my homesite customization. So much time and hard work has been put into it, not to mention the trophy's that I've won from RC being on display proudly on my homesite. I'm hoping that the future homesite customization mentioned will give us the same feeling as the ones soon to be lost. Congrats on the new design however, and I can't wait to see it!

None of the links applied to posts in report gallery content have been removed since Dec 5 !

We are working on a new report inappropriate content button for the new m9. Due to this there are some hick-ups in some files being removed.

OK cool,
it was just that my latest 2 uploads were not viewable on public galleries approx 20-22 hours after being accepted thus you loose a good chunk of downloads with the "new" tag applied on the first day, so i wanted removed inorder to upload again, i have a few themes i wanted to upload prior to xmas etc that was all & i was unsure what had happened.

hmmm...nice idea, but do we actually need a folder? can't we something by which we can directly add images to posts???

i don't think the technology/code itself is a problem. ex is probably thinking of the server space. images will eat away at the bandwidth a lot......and the convenience of uploading directly will cause more images in posts. so that might be the reason we don't have that feature

Yeah it was called uploadhub. However, as i said you had to go to that site to upload and it was a bit buggy. Thus no advantage other a site such as imageshack and thus people kept using imageshack.

I guess when attachments in posts are fixed it should fix this issue.

hey wait if you are using firefor you can easily click on any image anywhere an image hosting website is not very necessary when it opens up in a separate window right click on it and select copy image location and then use the forum IMG button to post that image like this.

yes but its subject to source variation....as in if u use a particular image in ur sig....and 2moro that site shuts down or changes such that t image is not available at t same address...*bang* there goes ur sig

but still photobucket also removes your images after a period of time the only site i've seen that keeps your images for a long time is imageshack.

Has anyone else noticed that the Mobile9 download sections like Mobile Java Games, etc have lots of stuff with completely irrelevant pictures and fake names (e.g. Mbest java filemanager for Moby Explorer)

With the new design being released, is there any chance someone can spend some time going through the various categories & re-allocating themes that dont belong in certain categories.
I know i have mentioned this before highlighting baby themes in the brands category but now the abstract category is being totally dominated by cartoon & romance themes...im referring to the S60 3rd but i have noticed the same problem with other phone model sections.

As we enter 2009, the only Feedback & Suggestions relevant right now is....

Well the Mobile9 V5 thread is buzzing with members helping the team fix those little bugs we all love to hate but i just wanted to offer some honest feedback here where it belongs...

I think the V5 is an amazing transformation with many new features at our disposal, which i hope we will all enjoy learning as time goes by...
I think overall the new sites layout is excellent & shows us that a lot of time & effort has been put into it by the team as a whole & like i have said before... they all deserve a pat on the back for a job well done indeed.

Also a big thank you to Patrick for all his time running around fixing the bugs that were effecting some of our members, excellent work...

Some members including myself have expressed concerns over some of their themes either not showing in the "all" category or the seperate category they were allocated too...
I spent about an hour searching through various themes sections & have indeed found themes first thought to be missing.. the slight problem is they are not showing where they are supposed too... for example i went to nature category in the S60 & page 1 shows contributions with jan09/dec08 because its set to show newest first but in some cases newest themes are actually further down the pages with the sept/oct theme uploads..

Just thought i would mention it so maybe if this can be looked into then it might help solve the mystery of alledged missing themes etc.

I think the screenshots should be made a little bigger per page as theres a difference from v4... because some screenshots are a little hard to see detail so we loose appreciating the effort creators make with their contributions... also maybe having 18 per page would be better also, i.e 6 per row instead of the first row only having 3... because it will allow new themes to be seen longer in the recent pages rather than being pushed down too quick.

Any feedback to my previous post reference missing themes or wrongly placed themes etc ?
Its only because i have held back uploading till i know the score with this problem.

I like new m9, even I had some problems before I get used to it There are still some bugs which I hope will be solved.

I won't talk about bugs, I have one suggestion. Maybe others will agree with me.

Now, when we have new m9, I would like to see that m9 really cares about us who upload our themes, ringtones and other stuff. I think that it would be good to see the list of leechers on front page (or at least link to such list), together with most popular, connected... First, it would be warning to those who upload stolen items and warning for others to check if there is something theirs so they'll be able to report. List could be made from "report stolen item" thread.

I'am really curious what others think about it.

I dont think advertising leechers on main site page would be good advertising for the site itself, but a link maybe an option or certainly a seperate thread within the forum for the consistant offenders... where concerned members can check daily or weekly the names of those uploading other members work ( a list only compiled by admin ).... what is a leecher though.. there seems to be many with different ideas & opinions of what leeching actually is !

I think that could be seen as a reward though? Downloaders don't care about leaching, they will probably just go to their profile so it is advertising them? Lets see what others think though. However, it did give me an idea which is offtopic:

I think we should have a list of badge winners or their files. So downloaders can immediately see a list of gifted, cert. and legend. themer's files when looking for a theme. A bit like the featured but different. Could be within categories or an option like show recognised only.

As for getting feedback. Patrick is busy still working on the new M9. Give him time to fully implement a working v5 before jumping to the next step .

I have noticed an additional option to those uploading screenshots to represent their contributions "Automatically generate a preview(recommended)"
I realise it is self explanatory but what file type does this "recommended" option apply too ? considerng a lot of members upload JPG which would be a single image shot anyway.
Is this just for those who upload multi screenshots in GIF format & the system will choose one image for them ?

It doesn't matter about filetype? It creates a preview by looking inside the theme itself. Just like the theme creators do. Any additional uploaded files will be included as extra previews.
