my w550i (sonyericsson) phone does not start and displays only white lighted screen after setting up a new thehe that i downloaded from gallery.mobile9.com. phone automatically turned off and restarted while displaying "setting up theme" message. what has happened to my mobile phone?

WSOD - white screen of death seem to be a fault in the phone caused by pc connectivity some thing that can cause WSOD
1. Take out the battery in a hurry before the system finishes restoring,e.g. changing SIM Card without a longer waiting for it to completely and safely shut down. You should wait at least 1 min.
2. pull out charger whilst recharging in a sudden..
3. forget to safely remove hardware in PC connection.

same thing happened here, it happened when my friend was opening a java game...then it reset itself and appear a white scream...

The same thing happened to my mobile, and my friend fixed it by adding flash theme. To add flash theme, you must patch your firmware and he did it and my phone works well no.

If your screen turns off then comes back on with a white screen please be patient and let it finish, it is doing a soft reset. Switching it off while it's doing this i think can damage your phone. Just wait 5 minutes and the phone should have restarted to its normal state.

If the white screen appears for longer than 5-10 minutes then ok i don't think it is going to be switching on again. Try holding down the power button for 15 seconds to see if that turns it off.

If you cannot get it to start up try as shout-out said running the sony ericsson firmware updater to reinstall the firmware. If that doesn't work get it to a SE service center.
