Hey everyone.
I just picked up a w300i.
i was wondering if i can set mp3s to ringtones? everytime i try..it says :this file cannot be set as a ringtone"......midi files are fine though.

Does it not support mp3 ringtone?

let me guess: the phone is Rogers branded. they disabled that option so you download tones from them.
options:
1. convert your mp3 tone to .amr
2. flash/unlock your phone using 3rd party unlockers. davinciteam

Yes..it is a Rogers phone.

If they lock that feature....than i would consider that FALSE ADVERTISEMENT!. One their website it states that you can use MP3 ringtones.....no fine prints... no nothing...that is the reason i bought the phone.

I just got off the phone with rogers because i wanted to exchange the phone for another one, because what they advertised, was not what i got.....

Get this...technician told me it was a hardware defect, custoemr relations told me i need to call sony to get proper instructions, customer service told me they can only do an exchange WITH THE SAME PHONE IF AND ONLY if used for 30 minutes or less.

AFter being on the phone for 1 h....I accomplished JACK s***.

Im <swearword snipped>ing pissed. I want my money back, and I want my contract ended.

are you sure they locked these features? Does the phone really support mp3 ringtunes?

how do yo think i knew you were on rogers? you are not the only one who found this out the hard way.

fortunately, it is not the end of the world. blast the rogers branding off your phone--->davinciteam.com

I looked through the whole site, but i couldn't find anything on the W300i. I have never messed aroound with any phone before. I am quite a noob with this stuff.

Is there a guide on how to do it? Is there another site which has something that can remove all these locks fo rthe w300i.

Maybe i missed it on davinciteam.com...ill go back again and take another look.

here you go: http://www.wotanserver.com/detail.php?phone=2 just read through the "how to"s and make sure you have a full battery.

*there is a workaround the mp3 issue also. go through SE.com--> developers site, protect the mp3 using DRM packager: http://developer.sonyericsson.com/site/glo...&zone=ps%20 , load the file and it can be used for a ringtone

S.E. phones are not useless, there are so many models of SE and they differ to each other, its the market thing, like nokia....

hey i just got that same phone n it supports both mp3 n amr files it wont support wav file
