I just wanted to point out this member. It seems most all of his themes are from someone else. Not only do they not have his name on any of them, they have current mobile9 member's names still in them. IE; Tyronne, Rehani, etc... Too many to name, all you have to do is go a few pages in to his files to see what I'm talking about. Could something be done about him? He's reposting other themers hard work and taking the credit and cp.

i have 18 themes uploaded, 672000 downloads!!!!!
almost everyone of them have rating above 4,5 (you can check that also)
So i think im fine contributor and much more than fine theme maker.
And what happens?
Theme of may is theme with 9300 downloads (not to mention that it is stolen!!)

The comment claims the theme is stolen, i will be happy to remove the theme if someone can show me the original theme. I'm not saying sam is lying, most likely he is telling the truth, however mistakes do happen (people have thought a theme has been stolen due to same wallpaper), so it needs to be checked with the original.

It is indeed in "May's Favourite Symbian S60 3rd Edition 240x320 Themes". This is because it has had one of the biggest amount of downloads in May (seeing as May has just begun and it's just been uploaded i can see why). It has had 10,000 downloads within 3 days. This is why it is here (this system is automated; no mods are involved).


No one is insulting you? It is an automated system as i explained above .

As for featured files (appears under themes of the month) they are chosen by mods and admins. Once a file gets a certain about of downloads and 5 favourites it is submitted to mods. Mods then go through the list featuring exceptional files, these appear as editors picks.

It is indeed possible for a stolen theme to be featured, this is because it is near impossible to tell if a theme has been stolen without it being reported. No stolen files should be in our gallery this is what this thread is for, therefore it is assumed that files are created by the original authors.

I would normally remove that theme but i am not convinced it is the same. What i mean is i did search and found:

which is very similar however it is different (the clock is different and the file size is smaller suggesting they are not exact replicas). I didn't think you could edit sis files once compiled either so i assume they are similar because of coincidence (maybe wrong).

Now, when you mentioned sam1374 one of the top contributors btw... hmmm... I've already removed couple of his themes in the past and there are more or them waiting to be removed... Stolen the whole skeleton; just changed the wallpaper . I take it he has not asked to use these components? Has anyone gave him a shout saying not to use their components.

I don't believe he has their approvals for such activities... and quite suprised Sedma hasn't noticed "his" themes... I will contact Penny about this matter anyway, as he used this theme of hers in 2 other themes as well..

Leeching has always been a problem. I could be wrong, but I think a lot of it is down to ignorance.

Some folk aren't aware that it's immoral and they stop doing it after they are advised.

However, it is on the increase recently (or maybe I've noticed it more?).

I can't understand why repeat offenders are tolerated on M9.

I would like to propose a '3-strikes-and-out' approach to leechers. In other words, leechers would get three warnings after which their account is cancelled, all their submissions are removed and their I.P. address is blocked from accessing the site so they can't even visit.

I don't know if I.P. addresses can be blocked or not. If they can be blocked, it might also offer a solution for dealing with certain z.e.d.g.e.r.s. who raid M9 for themes.

Vin, just to let you know, I'll be removing 3 of sam's copies according to Penny's request, as she can't remove them herself, although she is a gallery mod... still waiting for Sedma's reply...
