i wanna start this off by saying:

i had the utmost respect for 6600 themers and held them in very high regard, but now...
i have finally downloaded the thememaker from nokia's website and my respect and admiriation for 6600 themers has gone up by a multiple of a quintillion

the reason:

the software is the most ludacris software to be ever created by anyone in the history of creating software!
of all my days of using softwaree to create, troubleshoot and configure i have never ever come across such idiotic software created.
i'm sorry if i'm a bit harsh, but what i must say is my opinion after all...
i have used, C++, html, sql, flash and even java applications, but i have never come across a program that uses so much system resources and is so non-user friendly ever!

and i would just like to take this opportunity to thank nokia for creating this stupid piece of ridiculious software and thus by making my opinion of the nokia brand itself to be on my list of "stuff" to not ever touch, or have even the tiniest, minute bit of respect for...

my days of theming have been of such happiness, but this has so far put a dent in my motivation and my enthiusiasm...

so i would just like to say...

evrae - i have more respect in you than god, as you are the request goddess notworthy.gif

maampia - you too are another of the goddess and have more respect for you than god also notworthy.gif

and all other 6600 themers - i would like to take this chance to say i have more respect for you now than i have ever have and give you credit for the hard times you must have gone through to make these great 6600 themes notworthy.gif

and finally....

nokia - if you are reading this i would just like to say:

.................. blink.gif

don't wanna waste my breath....

i got it to start up, but i found it so slow thumbdown.gif, also i think SE's is easy to use if you haven't got a clue what to do, i think nokia needs to update that program

Use the prog in the forum shop. It works faster. Once you've created a theme, you can use the Nokia's version to open and preview the whole theme.

And yes, this is by far the worst skinning program i've ever seen laugh.gif even my amd 1800 crawls when running the prog thumbdown.gif

I have the one in the gallery.... unfortunately I don't have the resources to run the nokia version at this time.... I need some serious more diskspace.. I need to defrag... blink.gif before I can even attempt to get it to work blink.gif

Can't say I'm in a rush really wacko.gif after reading all this wacko.gif

running isn't a problem for me, it's the usability that really ticks me off mad.gif

i'm not sure if nokia tested it on some super servers or sumthing before releasing it...i mean it needs more ram than my OS recommends blink.gif

just the ignorance of nokia's inability to provide people with what is user friendly and what isn't... mad.gif

indeed. If the same thinking applies to their phones... blink.gif

Couldent agree more - I used the Official Nokia themecreator to do a few themes - but it is hillariously bad coding and hillariously slow smile.gif

I like the idea though, that you can activate/edit the elements from within the thememaker. Thats smart thinking - if only the software in itself was not so slow.

I was tempted to join the 6600 themers not long back. I read loads of threads about the theme creator and it associated "issues". I even visited the nokia site and checked out the file size before downloading on my work's server.

Couldn't be ar5ed in the end. It just seemed like the problems outweighed the advantages. Who wants to spend days trying to work out how to use software that doesn't seem to have been designed with the user in mind?

After reading this thread, I'm glad I didn't bother. Imagine how many 6600 themes there would be if nokia had a decent creator program. wallbash.gif

hey don't let me stop you, please try it out and enjoy...it's not so bad devil2.gif

you can trust me i'm a dem...themer wink.gif

Well thanks so much for those nice words adonis. smile.gif But really, it's just a matter of getting used to it. I do agree that the theme creator in the gallery is easier to use and a lot faster too but since all my themes were done using Nokias Theme studio, I find using the one in the gallery uncomfortable. I was completely disoriented when I attempted to use it. Maybe as I said "just a matter of getting used to". smile.gif

sorry! but i don't have time for slow things, i'm very fast you see generally, and i can't for the damn, java screen to change, just doesn't work for me, i'm used using everything on my pc with click and instant response, but that just doesn't fit the mold rifle.gif tongue.gif

it really isnt that bad...

But one thing is sure.... really exhausting.... just makin one good theme...

I was just about to try to make a theme using this editor.
Should I just give up and don't waste my time?
hus
the first time you use it, it really does make you wanna give up and never theme again BUT......

if you persist and build up a lot of componenets that are multi usable and also get used to doing most work in PS first, then theming does get easier.

also adding icons on the fly by just copy/pasting them into ur theme folder is a great help.

but as for system resource you are so right, i have only have a 1.3 AMD and i have to shut down all background apps and make sure my system is running only PS and theme studio to stand any chance of making the prog usable.

even then after running theme studio for more than 1 hr i have to save the theme and re-boot to speed it up again.

maybe someone should ask nokia if it reasonable to take more than 4 mins to save a icon thats under 10kb after editing it in PS haha.gif

i think this was why other people asked for different catorgories in the TMC because anyone that has themed for SE's and 6600's will know the difference in time to make a good theme on both app's

anyway no matter how much a pain it is to use, it's still great to finish a theme and see it all come together and get good reviews grouphug.gif
