How do you achieve this effect in photoshop? no filters used.

apply a graident? or use a paintbrush

no no...a gradient is smooth,that is not.

well you change it to noise and roughness 50% then? but i suppose this isn't really in an order and i suppose it's still smooth

ex says no filters. that incl noise, blur etc etc

i thought filters was just the the things in the filters part, i was on about blending options, gradient overlay, change to noise. Is that still a filter then?

how about installing different brushes and useing them?

no blending options as well

what about installing new brushes? and changing the mode on them

so what aren't we allowed to use, blending options and the filters menu?

is it something to do with image>adjustments

Apply a gradient - then convert to indexed colors (256) or save it as 256 colors gif

that's it spawn , the way you save it, i was partially there with the gradient (the simple bit that everyone knew), but i would never have got the way you save it, work spawn , now we just need confermation from ex

Can you use more than one layer?

i know another soloution, right click the pic and select copy, and in photo shop, press ctrl+n, ctrl+v , dah dah, the effect, and to change the colour press ctrl+u

edit: go over it with the transparent red spray brush (ok, ok, i don't know but am just guessing )

what about the sponge tool?

i think he's trying to say, i know something you don't know , or i found these and there's a comp, the person who finds out how to do it first wins £££ or something

oooh this is cool i'll take "how do you make that type of gradient?" alex i've got no clue as to "how to" with that type of gradient

not sure where's team jeddah when you need 'em

Use gradient overlay, change mode to index, then save it as gif, you'll get that effect.

EDIT: I was wrong, tried it and got a different effect.
