hey everone,
When I use the sharpen filter, even if I just use it once on a particular picture, I find that I get white dots and stuff around the edge of the objects in the picture, which looks very ugly if you are going to paste it on a darker background. Is there a way to sharpen without this uglyness occurring?

when that happens...try to despeckle and then use the unsharpen mask...i find that helps

this is more of a help question than anything, it might be a pretty dumb question as well. i just got photoshop i am use to paintshop pro but giving this a try and you know the pallets on the right hand side that shows the layers etc, i closed it out by hitting the "x" and i would want to have them back there, so how do i re-add them please
oppy
Apr 8 2004, 09:54 PM
err nvm i found the reset pallet button under window, i feel dumb

A little tip, if you get the slice grid there and you want to get rid of it, you goto view>>>show>>>slices

, i asked this a while back
just encase you didn't know

also with
this tutorial (which you've probably herd of or/and are using) i found out quite a bit about some things in photoshop:good:
Hope this helps

does anyone have any tips on how to make some really nice softkeys for themes or something like that ? yes i'm new and trying with photoshop and i make a new image 128 x 19 and fill it with a bg color and try using different filters but it all comes out blah looking
adonisdemon
Apr 12 2004, 04:28 AM
what i do is...
i make my pic 128*160 add guides = 14* horizontal and 141 *horizontal...
then add new layer...then using the select tool, the first tool on the toolbar, and start creating the shape for softkeys and then add colour, bevel and other effects, if you can't any ideas on how to create good softkeys, try one of the tutorials on making buttons and and alter the shape to your desired effect

try getting a pic of the actual rockets, then make the shape of the frame, take the colours from the rocket pic and create a gradient with it...

posted this yesterday but it got lost.
Finally managed to get myself Photoshop 6 (still not the latest but better than v4 by far). Anyway, loads of new features to get to grips with (including bevel/emboss - no more manual bevels for me). Spent a little time playing with some tutorials and managed to design this from scratch - impressed me anyway.

Apr 16 2004, 02:52 AM

Apr 16 2004, 03:23 AM
technically it was my first experiment with PS6, check out my last three themes for my last experiments in PS4 - um, actually best not check them out as they are quite similar to this in style

Vin, I got this from several tutorials at www.thewebmachine.com
