you dont need to flash the firmware to get the tones to work, vodafone built a type of copyright into the phone so that mp3s cant be played without a type of license, you can download a free piece of software called a DRM packager, this will change the file from mp3 to drm and allow them to be played and used on any vodafone phone, hope this helps. im sure if you do a search for drm on this site im sure you will find the download.

Unless you have a vodafone k700i with early firmware, then even DRM packaged mp3's cannot be played!

You have to phone around your vodafone shops to find a big one which will upgrade your firmware...
good luck because->
1)You have to go through an automated answer machine which takes forever...then it puts you through to the shop.
2)They never ever answer the phone in shop!
3)If you drive all the way to the 'Big smoke' to go to the damn shop there computer is down on occasion!

This is why my k700i is still unable to play any mp3s

You can use the mic record function of the phone and play the track recorded using this... but its low quality!
