Hi guys!!! I just downloaded the SE theme maker and found out its really stupid!!! wish i could do dat to da SE people!!!! First of all SE doesnt give many options in der phones except for the PDAS then they bring up this stupid theme creator which looks like a typical SE product!!! I know nokia has flaws but it looks like SE theme creator is a flaw!!! Its like creatin a wallpaper instead of a theme!!!! In the end it really sucks for a nokia themer!!!

It's not the theme maker though that lacks the large customization options (such as icons) it's the way SE themes are (not) to change the outlook of the 'OS' of the phone... it's not a real complete skin..... the theme maker (app) can not change this. It goes as far as SE firmware will allow so the theme maker is fine.

On a side note: at least the theme maker is a decent sized app that won't crash 'ye olde PC' like Nokias theme studio does... so looking purely at the software I dare say Nokia should take an example and produce a similar light app.

As for customizatuion options on the phone.. I do agree, I wish the icons and menus could be manipulated further

yes and all i'm saying is that you blame the theme maker while you should be blaming the way se skins are designed...

Vlam ur right abt blaming SE for coming up with those type of skins but the my main point is that SE is stupid and should be making better things in da near future!!! I wanna make themes for SE but the way it works really annoys me buddy!!!! And there are so less things u can do ... It feels like ur just pasting a wallpaper and changin text color!!! ITS STUPID!!!

In any case,90% of people using s60 Theme Studio dont take advantage of the extra areas anyway!
Thats why the majority of s60 themes are just wallpapers and incomplete,because the end users cant be bothered or dont know how to use all the features theme studio provides.

The bottom line of it is........The SE theme creator is better than Theme studio because,its fast,easy to use,and isn't too complicated.

The proof is in the pudding...take a look at any theme download site and see how many incomplete themes (of any phone model) you can find,i guarantee it will be s60.

uh.... do u mean to say dat SE themes look complete while the theme creator just apllies images and changes colors?? Well i saw a couple of sites and most of da s60 themes are brilliant!!! Example ur themes itself are excellent as for dem dumb themes they are made by people like me!!! .... And wat good is a developing program when it doesnt develop like it should?..... Now wat is better a theme maker that doesnt do much modifying or a theme maker that modifies every single bit of ur skin??? And u urself being an expert would love to work on every bit of ur product while dimbwits like me struggle..... .. so i guess its pretty simple SE theme makers sucks my friend!!!!

I understand how all the image functions work in theme studio,so for me Theme studio is better.

However your question was "Is the SE theme creator rubbish" and the answer to this is No,because at the end of the day it gets used to its full potential and isn't too complicated for the average user to work with. Hence the complete SE themes created and the incomplete s60 themes which are all over the place,yes there are some great s60 themes available,but they need to be downloaded and installed to see their full quality.

More is possible with theme studio yes,but it requires much more time and skill to produce a great theme with it.

Look at it dis way if nokia would have come up with SE 's theme creatorthen we would have been stuck with simple wallpaper and colored text skins only!!!! lol... and imagine how that would have looked!!! My question was is it worth foot stomping when compared to nokia's theme editor? YES!!!!!!!!! lol....

Without having much experience in thememaking, comparing the ( in this forum ), popular VITO themeeditor with the new SE themes_creator_160, don´t show much of a difference, but that the SE has the possibillities of making themes for various se-phones, and a bit more easy interface...

Offcourse one allways like to be able to do more....and if stuff like "tracker" is´nt a solution...U find yourself limited wih the SE-phones...

ALLTHOUGH ......i came across a SIS-file from the Diamant-1 package from UM-design, that when installed changed the set of standard icons on my P900....
anyone have an idea how he did that ??

I didn't know that was possible although I've wondered about it since symbian obviously does support changing of icons.... Hummm.... worth investigating then

Interesting convo here. I hate the S60 theme creator for Nokia - you can't even sneeze and the bloody thing crashes! And I have tried it on my P4 1.5 GHz desktop, which should be fast enough with 512MB ram. So if we are going to talk about companies not developing software properly, lets have a go at Nokia, for writing unstable software, eh? But then again, it is free software, you can't expect too much for nothing.

And thanks for “spotting” the issue with the “text color”.
You are absolutely right, it’s a bug and we are working on a solution for it right now.
Hopefully we should have a new build ready within the next two weeks.

Maybe we are misunderstanding what you are saying but it seem like you are just talking about the “default / basic editor” which is meant to be used if you would like to create a theme in the fastest possible way and still get nice matching colors through out the them.

If you switch over to the “advanced editor” you will get the option to change all the various elements like you could in the past
