If you have lots of money in your pocket then go for the best OS - iOS.. If you want a midrange or low cost phone then go for the largest growing OS - Android.. And if you want different type of OS with gond looks then go for - Windows Phone 8 OS..
If you want to know what I like.. Then I will say Android is best choise..

I like Symbian. This was Nokia's primary OS. But now they have left it and they are looking after windows. I have used android and windows. I feel windows is better.

Symbian is great. But it will be supported by Nokia till 2016 only. After that the main problem will be with the device certificates.

It's true that android has more apps. But we are not going to use all of them. We use the ones that we need.

And I think most of the handy apps are available in Symbian too. No idea about other OS.
