Generally speaking surreal art draws you in by being very beautiful (pretty) images to look at with a disorienting/weird dreamlike quality once you look at the details.
Broadly speaking surreal images are defined as: bizarre or having the disorienting, hallucinatory quality of a dream being unbelievable/impossible in real life. So what you will be using in your landscapes are al things that are "real" (human, animal, plant, objects, etc.) but put together in a way that can only happen in some weird dream. Some examples would be a tree with money as fruit - or dolphins "swimming" in the grass - or a sky with windows or doors.
