France international full-back Mathieu Debuchy has stated his desire to leave Lille this summer, with Newcastle heading the list of interested parties.
Debuchy, 26, was part ofthe France squad at Euro 2012 and has been linked with a move for some time, but has never previously been open with his intention todepart. Now the right-back appears to be backing Lille into a corner by confirming his desire to leave, with the club hoping to secure a replacement before sanctioning the departure. "Despite my commitment to Lille - the club is in myheart - I am 100% committed to leaving. I want to leave LOSC,'' he told L'Equipe. "The coachwants to keep me but I will not change my opinion.'' "The discussions are notgoing very well. For now I am stuck in Lille. LOSC want to find my replacement before I am released. Ten, 15 players have been suggested to them but still nothing happens. There must be a little goodwill. It disappoints me and bothers me. "Newcastle are one of my priorities. Inter interested too.*Newcastle have, already offered ¬5 million, but I don't know how much Lille want." Debuchy came through the youth academy at Lille, making his debut aged 18, before going onto make 289 appearances for Les Dogues. |
