Here is my life's first mascot ever...
(it took me about 3 hours to make it done)

Large version: (x500)
(IMG:http://nbyemen.com/images/M9/Egg9_x500.png)

Small version: (x150)
(IMG:http://nbyemen.com/images/M9/Egg9_x150.png)

Waiting forward for everyone's critics and comments cuz i know the mascot needs alot of improvements 2 make it look better and match STC requirements.

P.s: i started the idea from "Togepi" pokemon (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) but now it looks more like "Kinder Surprise" Mascot (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

I'm loving it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/clap.gif) only suggestion I have is to change the shadows ...
something a little bigger (more dramatic) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)
here's 2 examples of what I mean - one is a 2 dimensional the other more 3 dimensional look:

thanks - I appreciate the comment very much (IMG:style_emoticons/default/notworthy.gif)

Try to do the Roc bird tutorial I did (link in post #1) and if you get stuck somewhere I'll try to explain some more (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

it is leaving a small line on the boundary even where the grad is transparent

Hmmm - I think it does than if you move the layer after applying the gradient right?
if that's what you mean then adjust the selection into the right position before you apply the gradient

Thanks Eric for your example design, i will adjust the shadow and maybe try to give it lil glassy & shining touch too tomorrow (i want to do it now but my PSD file is @ work PC (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) ) and i hope that u like the final touches... i will try to make it like my smiley design in DC 29 ... wish me luck with that and thanks again (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

New Mascot "Mr. Drop 9" (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

(IMG:http://i51.tinypic.com/2ihqhpu.png) (IMG:http://i54.tinypic.com/2463qxw.png)

Design Basics:
1- i used Symbian (IMG:http://www.about-nokia.com/blog/media/pictures/20051102-s60.jpg) logo as the tip of painting brush.
2- the RGB mode (Red, green, blue) colors paste on the Coloring Plate as the coloring mode used in making themes.

3- used the "9" on left eye (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

P.s: i need some serious Critics on this one too (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

I think it looks just about perfect now (IMG:style_emoticons/default/clap.gif)
just the little bit of green from the S60 logo going over the line is bothering me - small thing but I thought I'd mention it anyway (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)
the color ones also look really great but my personal choice would still be the original one.

I like all the elements of this one (IMG:style_emoticons/default/10.gif)
I'm curious to see what it would look if you make the body a little wider ...
if you try it and it look okay then it could also be interesting to see what it looks like if you
move the face elements down a little and make the eyes a little bigger. But that's just me being curious it looks fantastic as it is (IMG:style_emoticons/default/thumbsup.gif)

(IMG:http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z452/ek4design/Drop9ix500.png)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Small version (150x) changes:

it really looked better when i made the body wider, centered face elements and enlarged eyes (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)
