well you might have better ideas but my secret is :

i always had a theme in my mixes (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)
no matter what the emotions were attached (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
i planned ahead of time what songs i will use
what genres i will select
i always mixed songs in max 10 min
whether i used 1 song or 10 did not matter
i never tried to correct the mixing after my first attempt unless i hear disturbance
i always believe the first try is the best and most accurate (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
i will come up with my best mixes/wins and the audacity pix of them to show how i mixed them for better understanding!

I second that! I also believe the first try is usually the best one!

LETS TALK ABOUT MIXING (IMG:http://www.smilys.net/musik_smilies/smiley3124.gif)

Host for this thread is Kewlone

Tell us what mixing software you are using, what sites or programs you use for download music, ask questions about your mixes, how to improve mixing skills and everything else about that.
We expect you all to join the discussion - help, ask or give advice or link.

Hopefully, we all will learn from eachother and have more fun in and around Ringtone Challenge.

Thanks in advance for the help from you all (IMG:style_emoticons/default/notworthy.gif)

Lets begin with one of my winner mixes (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy.gif) unfortunately my other pc is locked so what i have in this lappy i am posting here (IMG:style_emoticons/default/thumbsup.gif)

this mix has won gold, 11th most pop in may 2010, over 60K downloads and won me a Cert. DJ badge (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wow.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wub.gif)

my inspiration:
Christina
Pantoflica
Thump Rockstar
Danger__shah
Technokid

i have learned a lot from them! checking their originals, use of tracks etc.

my preferences:
great music
great beats
remixes
catchy tunes
trendy
has to be a great DJ remix i don't approve many my all time fav. is (DJ Blaze)

my resources (at the time i started):
torrents

mixing must begin with a
boom
or with announcement/beginning lyrics/opening words etc
a great music track

I'm Not Myself Tonight - RC Week 164

I used 3 stereo tracks
i never use fade in/out instead i use cross fade in/out within the tone only at the end if needed..
always check the different tracks beats/rhythm before mixing (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

(IMG:http://i1127.photobucket.com/albums/l623/kewlone/myselftonightmixing2.jpg)

@ para, sorry i forgot to answer:
theme like for eg the song i started :you wana get crazy and after a scream i used a track which says: oh uh .. ending in give me some more.. then a track following saying: i am not myself tonight making it a perfect theme.. at that time i used songs which presented naughtiness, sexy lovers or say crazy love etc... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)
i don't know about others, but i prefer mixing like this, mixing music only is easier compared using a track with lyrics, coz one track might have words not going with other track (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

also i can't randomly mix songs without creating a scene in my mind or say without a meaning (IMG:style_emoticons/default/thumbsup.gif) if you have a pre-planned concept/theme then it makes sense else i mean mixing can be nonsense to me! i remember mixing voices only and created a horror/thriller series scene out of it! i mean not a single music track, just sounds so it made sense even though there wasn't music track (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

COMING UP!

One of the best mixes (my personal fav)

keep visiting to find out more about it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/thumbsup.gif)
