Welcome to my game thread for mobiles. Well i finely got round to having a crack at a java game for my mobile :good:.
Coming soon X SPLAT O Beta: (IMG:http://img207.imageshack.us/img207/6476/splashdw6.jpg) Compatibility: Java MIDP 2.0 and later CLDC 1.1 and later Recommended: 240*320 resolution but not required Basic Manual: Small brown blobs are "food". They are always visible (can't see it? Try looking near the text at the top could be hidden there). Big blue blobs are invincibility. Gives invincibility for 10 seconds. Big red blobs are bonus points. Give more than food but based on your current score so when to get these requires some thought or it may disappear. The spiky brown blobs are the enemies. Don't let them hit you or it's game over. Ideas for extension: Make UI bit nicer- add pretty pictures (background pictures) Creative names needed for character and enemies? Add an accelerometer version? Confirmation for quit and menu. Lives? Achievements such as lasting 5 minutes, getting to level 6 on hard and some more. Then you can have a trophy cabinet to show these off (got this from xbox live haha). Selectable backgrounds for in game (plain white is boring but also not confusing). Having it user selectable is a good solution. Sound? Extensions added: Character changes colour/flashes when have invincibility (V0.4) Add in game manual (V0.4) Save top scores (V0.4) Make pictures transparent (V0.4) Scoring as well as time and level. (V0.3) Change Hard to impossible and add new Hard- every 5 levels balls get faster (V0.3) Add power ups (V0.3) Add blobs that increase score (V0.3) Add icon picture (V0.3) Known Bugs: Sometimes blobs get stuck together- may leave it, get dislodged eventually Blob can spawn on character Fixed Bugs: Pause is broken on phone (V0.5) Spawn invincibility maybe broke on phone (V0.5) Invincibility continues to run out when paused (V0.5) Remove exit when playing (V0.4.3) In game manual has non-transparent character (V0.4.2) In game manual spacers (new lines) are not working (V0.4.2) Sometimes start right next to a blob and thus die straight a way (V0.3 with invincibility at start for 2 seconds Change Log: V0.5 Fixed pause bugs Release: 20 July (OUT NOW) Tested on: PC Emulator, K850 V0.4.2 Fixed game manual images Fixed game manual spacers (new lines) Credits updated Settings menu back command added and exit removed Release: 25 June Tested on: PC Emulator, K850 V0.4 Added highscores Added in game manual Character now animates when invincible Images made transparent Can now only exit app on menu Quit current game command moved to pause screen from in game to prevent accidental quitting. Release: 24 June GMT Tested on: PC Emulator, K850 V0.3.2 Splash screen typo changed. Converted to png and is no longer blurred Now compatible with MIDP 2.0 devices and later Release: 22 June GMT Tested on: PC Emulator, K850 V0.3 Added 2 power ups (bonus points and invincibility) Made it so you're invincible for 2 seconds at the start of the game to prevent spawn kills Scoring system added (amount depends on level) Objective added (food) Added new Impossible difficulty and made hard difficulty a bit fairer. Time is added to score at end New main menu option during game Made new splash screen- old one was blurred this one is lighter so may make darker (is still blurred haha). Release: 18 June GMT Tested on: PC Emulator, K850 V0.2: Increasing Enemy speed for Hard every 5 levels Time and Level stats added in game Edited level ups to every 10 seconds rather than exponential. Fixed exit on menu screen Release: 17th June GMT Tested on: PC Emulator, K850 V0.1 Old release (just giving a taster) Release: Attached Tested on: PC Emulator, K850 Download Game Now -------------------------------------- Thread Subscriptions: Click here to receive email updates when someone posts in this thread or to Unsubscribe go here This post has been edited by vinnieza: Jul 21 2008, 04:28 AM |

@adonis, sure. Don't expect much though my first j2me game :).
Have got a working version now, going to sort out hosting tomorrow and add it to my site as m9 attached files are bad. I have no idea what this is going to work like on different phone res screens (it should technically work fine on all screen sizes apart from the splash screen) and maybe some text overlapping. Also, will be interesting to see what happens on the game over screen when a phone has less than 3 softkeys. Ideas for extension: Scoring as well as time and level. Change Hard to impossible and add new Hard- every 5 levels balls get faster Save top scores Make UI bit nicer- add pretty pictures (background pictures) Add power ups Add blobs that increase score Add icon picture Add log file for beta versions Creative names needed for character and enemies Add an accelerometer version? Known Bugs: Sometimes start right next to a blob and thus die straight a way Sometimes blobs get stuck together- may leave it, get dislodged eventually Change Log: V0.2: Increasing Enemy speed for Hard every 5 levels Time and Level stats added in game Edited level ups to every 10 seconds rather than exponential. Fixed exit on menu screen Release: Expected 17th June GMT Tested on: PC Emulator V0.1 Old release (just giving a taster) Release: Attached Tested on: PC Emulator, K850 |

Ok, well i was hoping to finish somethings with the game today. However, worked on my website all day to try and get a games section up. I thought i was good at writing maintainable code- obviously not, at least a few years back :P. Oh btw don't expect much, it's my first j2me game and it is in beta with a lot more ideas to be added :).
VERSION RELEASE: 0.2 BETA Ok, version 0.2 beta is out and available at my website: vthemes I will upload the final version to m9, but because the forum post attachments do not work and i wanted to update my website a bit anyway so i'll use that for hosting. :good: @boxie, yes having a go myself. Starting with this one. @devil-fish, yes but probably not as good as the ones you're used to :) |

go to my site (click download in first post) > login* > go to games > click download
*Reason you have to login as registration emphasises the terms of use which say you're not allowed to upload the files anywhere else (i.e leachers) without my permission. It also allows better control over the site :). Registration is free, nothing is stopping you filling in phoney data if you really don't want to submit any data. Although, email address needs to be valid i think to stop bots. :good: Edit: Ah fixed, the error page was broken, thanks for pointing it out :). Who can beat my record on normal of 1296 total score B) |

@castle, Interesting, i have added a JP-7 version on my website. Does this one work?
Thanks If that is the case i may work on adding sections for java games to my site. One for JP-8 (k850, w580 and some more) and JP-7 (a lot, not sure where i can get a list). @boxie, using special settings i could have an infinite score :P, but that's legitimate. It's good to considering my average is probably about 200 haha Basic manual added to first post. This post has been edited by vinnieza: Jun 19 2008, 03:45 AM |

Ok have updated the JP-7 file on my site. If this one doesn't work i will have to consult the people on the sony ericsson dev forum as i have no idea what else it could be.
Thanks |
