@carls
I got a question, can a p900 play an mp4? What application would I need to be able to play these type of files? Another one, is there a specific pc application that could convert videos from mp4 or wmv to 3pg? |

The "Video" Program preinstalled in the phone is capable of playing MP4 and 3GP.
There are alot of programs, the best one I tried is Sorenson Squeeze. While the only 3gp converter I know is Nokia Multimedia convert 2.0. |

Ok maybe I'm really soo ignorant, are mpeg same as mp4? Cause I can't play video clips with mpeg-layer3 format file types on my phone. Should I convert it first? All the while I thought mp4 and mpeg are one and the same. :wallbash:

i used mepegable 4x live, it can encode, almost anything to anything else :lol:
avi, mpeg, mp4, 3gp, it has settings already for 3gp, compliance and p800/p900 specification. also cos the k700 supports mp4 playback, you can create 3gp but encoding them with mp4 codec, makes it smoother, smaller file size, and better audio, if you use aac format. it has resize defualts also for different sizes, for cropping and letterboxin and stuff. great program, you can try the trial version. http://www.mpegable.com/show/mpegablex4.html |

what's the problem carls? i created a 3gp out of it? :blink: @vince - to make a 3gpp video compatible with all 3gpp, capable phones, load the file you want, and then use the "mobile devices 3gpp compliant" and click "apply setting" and start encoding. to encode it with mp4, and add quality, do this: (will only work on k700, and mp4 capable phones.) -apply settings - "3gpp compliant" -"video encoding", change to iso mpeg4. -"audio encoding" change to mp4 aac -"interporability" change to 3gpp>mpeg4 SP @level 0, and audio to aac -"image processing" - cropping resizing>and change to qcif (176 x44) This post has been edited by adonisdemon: Jun 27 2004, 04:12 PM |

I can add to the info that "optimum settings" for creating 3gp for K700i are videobitrate: 75-95 (the higher the better - lower for smaller filesize) audiobitrate: 48 samplerate: 22050 mono framerate: 15.00 |

@Adonisdemon:
I use Nokia Multi. Converter. to make 3gps, but since a few days, the program would just shut down when it finished audio encoding. Also, I have a problem with my sound drivers, but still I was able to convert while having the problem. I tried Mpegable 4x live, but Audio is also not encodable. Seems got to do something with Directshow. |

Ohh thanks so much for this spawn! Will surely try it out the next time. :good:
That's the first one I tried, but it seems that mp4 are a lot bigger in size than 3gps, and besides I haven't really toyed with the application to know how to go through the other settings to get what I want, and I really don't know what went wrong cause I couldn't play the finish product on my phone. So I just decided to follow your instructions with the 3gp setting and I made it, smaller file size and playable on my phone, and very nice quality too, both for audio and video. :good: So I gotta thank you adonis, thanks! :) |

Is MP4 or 3GP better on the K700?!
I tried to convert videos in 3GP and play them on the K700, and they don't look very good, but while I put MP4 videos in the K700, the just play as smooth as the 'Kite' Demo-Video (it's in MP4 as well!) What software can I convert MPG into MP4?! THANKS! |
