It's because your iPod can only be synced to one computer at a time unless you enable the Manually manage music and videos option from under your iPod's summary tab. However, this method of syncing is much different from having iTunes automatically sync content for you.
So in order to sync your iPod with the new iTunes you'll need to copy the music from your iPod over to your new PC and then erase and sync it. For more information on copying content to an iPod manually see this article how to transfer or copy music from iPod to PC. Hopefully this works for all of you like it just worked for me! Is it possible that you have a different iTunes account for the iPod than the one you use for the iPad?
Technically, they should still transfer (as far as I know) but might not play. But since I have never owned an iPod, I cannot say for certain. |

Well if you bought those songs on iTunes I think it’s easy to get them back, because they should be linked to your account so you can download them for free again.
But if those music on your ipod are from other computers via itunes, you may not transfer them from ipod to pc because itunes can only transfer these fiels from itunes to your ipod touch. In that case you will need some other tools to do that. Google iPod Transfer and maybe you can find something useful. |

Thank you for any help!!! I was under the impression iTunes works on a 1 way street - the PC/Mac to the device and never the other way around. In order to retrieve songs from the iDevice, you will need to search online for free software to rip music from the iDevice to the PC , resync the ipod to the newly created iTunes library.
