What's the consensus on Signal Boosters around here? Do they actually work? I've seen them going on eBay for as little as 30p, so I was thinking about getting one as the reception for my mob in my house isnt amazing.

Worthwhile?

Oh well, noone seems to know, but I'll post back with the results - I just got this one for next to nothing - if it does what it says it'd be a bargain!

Plus why would you want to amplify the potentially brain cancer causing signal straight into your brain?

Its widely denied that mobiles cause brain tumours, but its not like mobile signals have been extensively studied for decades or anything.

I have the same feeling about bluetooth headsets too - it might be "harmless" radiation but what long-term evidence does anyone have about bluetooth? So I especially don't want it next to my head!

@beano thank you for that especially seeing as everything in my house is bluetoothed or wifi. Because I just had to trip over wired wich can cause me a fall and break a something. So i am not sure if having things wired is a solution too. And carying the mobile so close to you can tbe healhy either ?

Well it doenst matter no matter what we do or dont do. We all die if it is run over by a car on the street of smoking, drinking or having a bluetooth next to my head the whole day. I jsut stopped worrying about it anymore. I cant avoid all the stuff that everybody is saying all the time. Just do the sane thing ( whatever that is ) .

A little radiation never hurt anyone - see Spiderman / Incredible Hulk / Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for examples.

yeah of course you have a point. I don't like the idea of getting cancer, especially after watching nice people die from it, but it still hasn't stopped me using a phone, or even putting it in my pocket right next to my ovaries...

i take it that it's in your pocket next to your ovaries coz that's there the pocket is in your scrubs ;)

Bluetooth uses the same frequency as all manner of other radio devices, not least most cordless house phones, video senders and so on. Lots of devices that have suspiciously failed to come in for the kind of alarmism that is being touted about the radio signals produced by mobile phones.

Personally I believe phones have simply become another target for no nothing fear mongers to bleat on about. Just like the internet.

Now I must get back to my kiddie pron...

John

@Scuby - NEW AVATAR! Well, I don't wear scrubs, I'm still in the "books" part of medicine... But it comes down to a choice between the ovary pocket and the breast pocket - which one? And girls don't typically use the arse pocket - plus if I sit on my phone it might break!

@Floyduk - yeah true... I'm not meaning to be alarmist. I just get worried about these things. But like I said before, not worried enough to stop using my kickarse T610!
